Special (extended) links
The simplest links available in HyperPublish are the “normal links”. To insert them, select a text block and use "Insert >Link". If you need something more elaborate and powerful, you have to use "Insert >Special link". Note that special links work only with the editor in read only mode ("Hypertext >Read only"), or with the iPerReader.
The available behaviors follow (to inspect how we have built these examples, you can open the present file itself in the editor, specialLinksHP.aeh):
  • links to another page (select one of these options to learn how to insert these links):
  • - with a click, a window will show
    - a new browser window will show
    - destination page replaces caller frame
    - destination page will show in another frame or another window
    - destination will show as a popup
    - destination page is opened at a fixed row, marked by an anchor
  • a click on the link will close a window
  • link to same page, by using anchors
  • link to WinHelp sequence
  • a click on the link will show the search by keyword window (click to show the search window: this works only in the editor/reader)
  •
You can add Html code to any of these link. This is a test link (to see Html, open this file in the editor, use right mouse button on the test link, and choose “Properties”, then the “Html” tab).
If you want to show a window without the user having to click on a link, search for opening windows in the main Help (Visual Help home).
